Discussion Questions

Use these questions after reading the book aloud with your class or reading group.

Josh had a special rule about Saturdays. Do you have any special rules or traditions in your family? What makes them important to you?
When Josh's mum had to leave for work, how do you think he felt? Have you ever felt disappointed when a plan changed suddenly?
Josh spent the day with his dad doing different things. What did you notice about how his dad tried to make the day better? What would you have done?
At the hospital, Josh saw his mum caring for a scared child. How do you think that moment changed how Josh felt about his mum going to work?
At the end of the story, Josh feels proud of his mum. Can you think of a time when you felt proud of someone in your family? What did they do?
